Most of us love our food and many of us pay attention to what we are eating because we want to save our waistline. But if you are one of the many that are paying attention to what you put in your mouth and still seeing your waistline grow, then you aren’t alone. The problem is a great deal of the food we eat is very deceptive and not nearly as healthy or low in calories as you might think.
For example, let’s look at those salads that fast food joints are offering. You might be shocked to discover that many of these actually have more calories than the typical burger does. One group of research shows that if you take an unhealthy dish and you serve fruit with it (even small amounts) we will eat 35 percent more, because we think it’s healthier.
You are likely familiar with the TV show Cook Your Ass Off featuring Chef Richard Blais. Every week he challenges three cooks. The task they are faced with is to take a dish that’s unhealthy and turn it into a nutritious dish. The participants are told they need to create heart healthy options that can help anyone who makes unhealthy food choices to make better choices. Chef Blais knows how just swapping out a few foods can make a huge difference. After all, he has lost 50 pounds following his own advice. He shares three foods swaps but we thought we would take it a little further and incorporate a total of 5 simple food changes.
#1 Oatmeal vs. Barley Risotto
In recipes calling for rice, use grains instead. When a recipe
calls for risotto rice use Stella cut oats. When fried rice is
called for, use millet or quinoa. This adds many health benefits
and it creates a unique recipe that benefits your waistline.
Grains can give your recipe a new taste and your waistline a new
look – it’s a win-win.
#2 Substitute Vanilla or Cinnamon for Sugar
In recipes that call for sugar, substitute vanilla or cinnamon
for sugar. Did you know that our minds actually register both of
these as sweet even though they are not. This is an excellent
way to reduce your bad carbs, calories and your waistline. Don’t
be tricked into using sugar substitutes – they are not healthy
and they should not be in the diet of anyone who is looking to
stay healthy.
#3 Use Mushrooms as Fillers
Take your burger and replace half of the beef with ground up
mushrooms that are first roasted. It reduces fat and calories
while at the same time adding more umami. The flavor is to die
for and that’s a win-win. On top of that, consider all of the
different mushrooms out there that you can try and each will
give your burger a different flavor.
#4 Switch Rice for Seeds
If you aren’t familiar with flaxseeds, chia seeds or psyillum
seeds you should be. They are loaded with healthy fats that
fight inflammation, improve your cognitive function, reduce your
cholesterol levels, and shrink your waistline. Start with small
amounts until your body gets used to them. Toss them in your
smoothie or your salad, or add to your muffins.
#5 Replace One Thing on Your Plate With a Fruit or
Vegetable
Most of us don’t eat enough fruits or vegetables. We should eat
5 to 7 servings per day but most of us don’t get anywhere near
that because we are focused on convenience rather than health.
Ironically, convenience isn’t going to be good to your
waistline. Swap one thing on your plate for an additional fruit
or vegetable. Doing this to your daily diet can make all the
difference in the world. Not only will it help to shrink your
waistline, it will promote overall weight loss, fight cancer,
reduce heart disease, and decrease inflammation in the body.
In addition to these 5 food changes there are a few other things you can do. You can start to eat breakfast regularly. Skipping breakfast isn’t good for your waistline and yet too many of us skip it. Eating breakfast will boost your immune system. Breakfast also works to balance your blood sugar levels throughout the day, which reduces your cravings and keeps hunger pains at bay.
You can also improve your waistline by taking Genf20 Plus. You will find that taking an HGH supplement such as Genf20 Plus improves lean muscle mass and decreases fat, especially belly fat. That’s because it helps your pituitary gland produce more HGH, which in essence turns back time, because you’ll have HGH levels that were more like when you were younger and that means a faster metabolism.
Your waistline doesn’t need to grow, as you get older. You really can keep the figure you once had and it isn’t as difficult as you might think. Start with these simple suggestions and watch where it takes you.
