How You Send Your Metabolism to a New Level - Increase Metabolism

According to a recent study conducted by the California State University in San Marcos, it seems those who rest less are more successful with their calorie burn. The study found that those who cut their workout time in half by reducing how long they rested increased their post exercise calorie burn. It seems you can increase metabolism this way.

This does not mean that rest has to be completely eliminated to enjoy results. Then again, rest is important, because attempting to push through your difficult workout without rest, means you increase your risk of injury and it actually reduces your performance. You won’t be performing to the best of your ability without proper rest.

What you need to do is control your rest periods so that you can fit more work into less time. How much of your rest time you can cut will depend on the fitness level you are at and what kind of workout you are doing. Start by trying to cut it in half. For example, instead of 60 seconds between your exercises try for 30 seconds or instead of 30 seconds between your exercise try for 15 seconds.

If you want to up the anti even more and create an even bigger challenge try performing a series or pair of moves with no break. In other words go from exercise to exercise and don’t stop. You will quickly begin to feel just what a challenge this is in other areas of your body. For example, try to hold on to a pair of dumbbells for 3 or 4 moves and what do you think will be taxed? It will tax your grip.

Even though there are so many times that you can reduce your resting and increase your exercise time, there are a few times when you might not want to reduce your rest times.

#1 If you are trying to perform power exercise or big lifts, you need to rest between your reps. This will help to make sure that you are correctly doing the exercises and this in turn reduces your risk of injury. You will enjoy greater benefits attack each of your reps with fresher muscles because of your rest. If you perform consecutive sets or reps with no rest your muscles will be tired.

#2 If you are completely wiped and you do not take your rest you will won’t be able to perform your rep with the proper form. If your muscles are so tired t hat you are not able to carry out the exercise correctly you are at a much greater risk of injury and you will not maximize your results.
