How to Build Abs – Look Your Best for the Summer

So summer is upon us and you just can't stand the idea of having that less than perfect looking abs. Great news – you don't have to. You can build abs faster than you think.

The first thing you need to realize is that if you are planning to chisel out those abs you need to be training in a way that specifically trains all of the functions of your core. HIP UP

Lie on your right side, and extend your right arm until it is perpendicular to the floor. Now you have to prop yourself up on your right forearm. Raise your hips until your body is straight from the top of your head to your ankles. Then lower your left hip. That's 1 rep. Do 20 reps and then change to your left side.

This is the BEST ab exercise out there because it rains your core and stabilizes the spine. That will cause your obliques to sculpt and increase the rotation stability and control you have.

ROCKY ABS

Lie on your back with straight legs and your arms extending behind your head. Grasp your hands around something that won’t move. Raise your legs, lower back and butt until they become perpendicular with the floor. You should rest your weight on your upper back. Keep your body as straight as you can and brace your core – hold 5 to 10 seconds then lower yourself to floor again. That’s 1 rep. Do 10 reps.

This exercise works because your muscle are actually able to handle additional weight on the lowering phase of a lift. Slowing the pace your muscles go through this process makes them work harder and that leads to quicker ab gains.

THE 3 POINT CORE TOUCH

Put yourself into the pushup position. Then quickly move your right leg forward. Your right heal should land outside of your right hand. Pause then return to your pushup state. Now repeat with your left leg make sure your left heal lands outside of your left hand. That’s 1 rep Do 8 reps.

This works because it targets your muscles in the lower back, groin, hips and lower abs, which often get neglected. It strengthens your core for greater stability.

THE FIGURE 8

Lie on your back and place your arms at your sides with your palms down. Now raise your legs until they form a 45 degree angle from the floor. Make a big loop circle with your legs going from right to left forming a figure 8. That’s 1 rep. Do 12 reps.

This works because these small loops challenge your rectus abdominis and the large ones challenge your entire core.
